about us

FBC Athletics is a Baltimore youth basketball program where every child gets a real shot at playing, developing, and becoming a leader, regardless of their background or starting point.

Our Story

FBC Athletics started because of a simple frustration: too many good kids were being overlooked, cut early, or left on the bench. Coach Phil Davis, a Navy veteran and former FBI Special Agent, saw it firsthand when searching for basketball programs for his own children and other kids in the Baltimore community. Most programs focused only on the top players, leaving everyone else behind.

Phil knew there was a better way. Drawing on his background in public service and youth development, he created FBC Athletics in 2015 as a collaborative youth sports club built on a different foundation. Instead of chasing trophies at all costs, FBC would focus on character, opportunity, and development for every player who showed up ready to work.

Since then, FBC has grown from one team into a full basketball program serving athletes in 4th-8th grade across multiple leagues and tournaments. We’ve helped hundreds of young players develop skills, confidence, and leadership that carries far beyond the court. We’re proud to be a place where hard work meets opportunity, and where every child can go farther than they imagined.

What We Stand For

At FBC Athletics, basketball is the tool, but character is the goal. We develop young athletes who carry these values from the court into every area of their lives, becoming leaders their communities can count on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. FBC Athletics has a place for complete beginners through experienced travel and AAU players. We place your child on a team where they will be challenged, encouraged, and able to grow at their own pace.
Our core programs are for players in 4th–8th grade (roughly ages 9–14). Within that range, we offer different teams and leagues (Team Hustle, Elite AAU, 3v3, and more) so your child can start at the right level and progress over time
Prices vary based on the team, grade, and level of competition. We provide payment plans and financial assistance because we believe that cost should never be a barrier for a child to participate. For specific pricing details, please reach out to us directly.
Time commitment depends on the program. Younger and beginner teams usually have 2 practices plus 1 game per week. More competitive and Elite AAU teams practice more and travel to tournaments. We clearly outline schedules upfront so families can plan around school and other activities.
Yes. Especially at the younger levels, we emphasize development and confidence, not just winning. Coaches work to ensure every player gets meaningful minutes, learns the game, and feels part of the team, while still keeping games competitive.
Our coaches are experienced, vetted, and background-checked. They are chosen for both basketball knowledge and their ability to teach, encourage, and model strong character. We expect them to communicate clearly with parents and create a positive, safe environment for every player
You can explore our Programs page to see age groups, costs, and schedules. If you still have questions, you can contact us directly to talk with Coach Phil or a staff member, who will help you choose the best fit for your child before you register.
