Confidence · Responsibility · Uniqueness · Evaluation

We build decision makers.

FBC: CRUE uses basketball as a testing ground for life — giving young people the tools, the pressure, and the space to become confident, accountable, and self-aware.

What CRUE Stands For

Four qualities we can coach — on the court and off it.

These aren't slogans. They're observable, teachable skills that show up in a game and carry straight into the classroom, the career, and the community.

C

Confidence

Taking the big shot — and raising your hand in class. We build belief through preparation, not bravado.

R

Responsibility

Owning the outcome before anyone points a finger. Accountability is the foundation of every trust they'll ever build.

U

Uniqueness

Every player brings something no one else has. We help them build their own game — and their own path.

E

Evaluation

Reading the court is reading the room. We teach kids to assess, then act — to respond instead of react.

The Idea

Basketball is the tool. Better decision-making is the goal.

Young people already show up for the game. FBC: CRUE meets them there and uses the pressure of real play — the missed shot, the clutch moment, the read on defense — to teach the inner skills that decide how they handle setbacks, relationships, and choices long after the final buzzer.

The Program

Starting with a focused pilot program.

FBC: CRUE launches with a focused pilot program — a six-week proof of concept that pairs on-court training with structured work on the CRUE values, measuring how young people grow and shaping the full program that follows.

A safe place to grow

Every coach and volunteer is background-checked, and the safety and well-being of every participant is our highest operational priority.

Who We Serve

Maryland youth, ages 10–15.

We focus on young people in and around Baltimore who would most benefit from a structured, supportive place to build confidence and accountability.

  • On-court training built around the CRUE values
  • Decision-making and confidence work using real game scenarios
  • Family engagement that carries the values home
  • Offered on a sliding scale — ability to pay never decides who participates

Leadership

Led by a founder, guided by an independent board.

FBC: CRUE, Inc. is governed by a board of community and business leaders committed to keeping the organization accountable to the young people and families it serves.
